Golden Isles Track Club

On November 21, 2009 several members of the Golden Isles Track Club attended the dedication of the new Frederica Park on St. Simons Island. The track club donated funds for a permanent bench near the front entrance of the park and toward completion of the 1.5 botanical running/walking/hiking trail within the park.

There is a plaque on the bench donated by GITC, and a permanent plaque at the entrance to the nature trail with GITC listed as a donor for the funding of the park trail. This donation was made possible by funds received for the 2009 Sunshine Festival 5K and 1 Mile run.  Pictured below are: Golden Isles Track Club President Greg Carver presenting a check to St. Simons Land Trust Dir. of Development Dana Pope with Karen Stone, the Club's co-race director of the Sunshine Festival 5K race looking on.  Additionally they gave a check to The Rails For Trails Project coming to Glynn County.

Several GITC members ran or biked to the November dedication  Members present at the dedication were- Greg Carver, President, Haley Carver, Karen Stone, Dave Stone, Rhonda Kenyon, Linda Olsen, Dottie Brodhag, Jack Brodhag, Joan Boorman, and Tom Kelleher, co-vice president.
