Golden Isles Track Club

On November 21, 2009 several members of the Golden Isles Track Club attended the dedication of the new Frederica Park on St. Simons Island. The track club donated funds for a permanent bench near the front entrance of the park and toward completion of the 1.5 botanical running/walking/hiking trail within the park.

Present at the dedication were- Greg Carver, President, Haley Carver, Karen Stone, Dave Stone, Rhonda Kenyon, Linda Olsen, Dottie Brodhag, Jack Brodhag, Joan Boorman, and Tom Kelleher, co-vice president.

Several members ran from Brogan's North to the new park, while many others bicycled their way to the event. Over 200 people were present at the dedication.

There is a plaque on the bench donated by GITC, and a permanent plaque at the entrance to the nature trail with GITC listed as a donor for the funding of the park trail. This donation was made possible by funds received for the 4th of July Sunshine Festival 5K and 1 Mile runs in July 2009.
